Publicity Started With a Press Release, Went to a Blog, Then to the News
I want to show you what can happen when you write great content in a blog (yes, I said it) and also in a press release. My expertise was displayed on the front page of the CBS Interactive blog, BNET [May 5, 2009]. It’s about the benefits that President Obama may have realized when he couldn’t use his BlackBerry.
The article has links to my Website and my blog! When you get links from popular sites like this, that boosts your Google rankings higher, “If Obama Can Ditch His BlackBerry, So Can You”
The writer, CC Holland, never contacted me and didn’t need to because all the information she needed was on my site. (They don’t always give you live links to your site, but she did, the editor approved it, and I’m grateful.)
Check out how all this tied together. I wrote a blog post on my award-winning technology blog, SuiteMinute.com: President Obama Should Limit His BlackBerry Use Now That He’s Survived Without It. And I sent a press release via Fast Pitch. A Google News Alert the writer had set up sent a notice about my press release and that led her to my blog.
Don’t you just love it? I got thousands of dollars worth of exposure, am perceived as an expert in my field, and I didn’t pay one red cent!
If you want to learn more about how I show up so well in Google’s organic search results and how I shamelessly promote what I know, I’ve written an ebook about it, and it’s available for sale on my Website. I also conduct seminars on this topic. On June 9th, I’ll speak at the Public Relations Society of America New York chapter’s technology event.
P.S. Our Blogging Bootcamp is on the schedule! Learn WordPress and create your blog. Then do all the right things that will help boost its search engine rankings. It’ll be worth every penny.
PEACE.
